This night is an act of tribute to the musicians of Cassà. It consists of forming a monumental cobla, a traditional ensemble of more than fifty people whose one trait in common is that they are all from Cassà. These musicians meet spontaneously once a year for the love of music. At the Night of the Musicians, only sardanas from musicians with ties to Cassà are played, whether they were born in the municipality or have lived there.
There is one piece of music that is repeated every year, El Sereno, by the composer Josep Coll i Ligora. With this piece the performance comes to an end, becoming a true anthem for the musicians from Cassà. As part of the Night of the Musicians, sixteen sardanas dedicated exclusively to this event were premièred, which ended up requiring the figure of a conductor, since due to the size of the band the musicians on one side do not hear those of the other.
The event takes place on the Friday of the Festa Major (town fair) and is traditionally held in Plaça de la Coma, the square in the heart of Cassà.
