Sala Galà Cultural Centre
The Sala Galà Cultural Centre is the cradle of art, music and reading in Cassà de la Selva. It is a multi-purpose facility that houses the Municipal Library, the Music School and the Josep Lloveras Art School. It also has an auditorium to host talks and cultural events. It is all located in an eclectic style building with art nouveau influences that was originally designed as a ballroom in the early 20th century.
You can find more information about the Sala Galà and the activities that take place there at www.salagala.cat.
Art Nouveau Buildings
The development and wealth that the cork industry brought to the town led to the construction of buildings in which the aesthetic element was of great importance.
Medieval and modern Cassà
The origins of Cassà de la Selva are located in the Middle Ages, specifically in the 10th century, when it already appears in several documents.
Tren Petit
The arrival of the train in Cassà in 1892 meant a revolution for the municipality. The line connected Girona with the port of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
